Pay traffic fines in installments from tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols (DTP) at Abu Dhabi Police and the Department of Transport (DoT) have announced granting motorists with expired vehicle registration, the option to pay their traffic and parking tickets in installments, starting June 1 until August 31.

Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthy, Director, DTP, said all branches of the directorate in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region will provide the facility to motorists with at least Dh1,000 in fines for more than one violation ticket. The total fines can be paid in two installments.

"We hope that allowing motorists to pay their fines in two installments will encourage them to be more compliant with the laws and regulations aimed at maintaining safety. Neither DTP, nor DoT are happy to issue violation tickets," he added.

Motorists availing this facility should, however, pay all traffic and parking fines incurred in other emirates of the country, including fines by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, the municipalities and fines in other GCC countries, in addition to the upfront payment of 50 per cent of fines by DTP and Mawaqif.

The remaining 50 per cent should be paid within one year.
