The Friend Next DoorYet what makes Synthite stand out is not only the quality of its products, the size of its clientele, or the speed of its growth… it is its ability to look beyond its profits and shoulder corporate responsibility, long before it became the norm with other corporate houses. The Company has an exceptional record in employee relations. What is truly heartwarming is the special bond that the company shares, not just with its staff, but with people in the area, to whom it is the friend next door. It started with a small step when Synthite offered comprehensive health insurance to around 1600 families in the area who were below the poverty line. The scheme was slowly extended to cover more and more families- and Synthite started shouldering more and more social responsibility
A Foundation for HopeSocial awareness and commitment to the poor prompted Synthite to establish the CVJ Foundation in 2008, on the 75th Birth Anniversary of Mr. C.V. Jacob, Chairman and Founder of the Group. The Foundation focuses on education, health care and housing schemes and carries out various community development programs throughout the year. Its first project was to construct 75 homes for widows, handicapped people and other underprivileged people. Over a 24 month period it has invested over Rs 2 crore on various schemes that have brought hope to the underprivileged. It has rebuilt 83 homes and provided educational assistance to 83 students in the field of nursing, engineering and other streams. Close to Rs 60 lakh has been spent on medicines, monetary aid for surgeries and other health benefits for the needy. Future plans include diversifying to other parts of Kerala and other states and extending all possible help to spice farmers who are the foundation of the industry.
Synthite has evolved from a modest beginning with one unit of 20 employees in a village at Kadayiruppu in Kolenchery to a Rs.450-crore concern with 1,200 direct employees and six manufacturing units across the southern parts of the country. The journey has been marked by a determination to succeed and a commitment to society that mirrors the vibrant spirit of Kerala today.
