Businessman changes expiry date on energy drinks

• The warehouse in Ajman’s new industrial zone where the illegal changing of expiration dates on energy drink bottles was discovered.

Ajman: An Asian businessman has been arrested by the police on the charge of changing the expiry date of energy drinks and then trying to sell them.

According to the inspectors of the Trade Monitoring and Protection Department of Ajman Municipality, the Asian businessman was operating his illegal practice at a large warehouse located in the new industrial zone in Ajman.

He hired four workers, from different Asian nationalities, to change the expiry date of energy drinks and add two extra years using a special machine.

Mohammad Ali Al Marzooki, Executive Director of the Economic Licensing Sector in Ajman Municipality, told Gulf News that the arrest was made during an unannounced inspection at the warehouse where they found a large number of energy drinks and workers removing the expiry dates with thinner and using the machines to add new expiry dates with the aim of selling them to consumers
