The company said it had just started enforcing the new rule
on a trial basis but the National ID requirement would become permanent at a
later stage.
Daman’s CEO Michael Peters said the new regulation is in line
with a decision by the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (Haad).
“Daman is currently planning to implement Haad and the Abu
Dhabi Government mandates of requiring the Emirates ID for health insurance
plans. Daman welcomes these mandates as it provides the public with a unified
form of ID for services across the emirate. We are working on a process for
implementation and currently accept the Emirates ID card on voluntary basis.
Once the process is in place we will notify the public of the implementation
date in advance.”
He said the new regulation followed an agreement between Haad
and Daman to ensure that all applicants in the emirate must have ID cards before
they are provided with medical insurance.
