    • The new dedicated bus lane that is soon to be opened to traffic on Al Mina Street in Bur Dubai. The RTA has identified 14 roads in Dubai for dedicated public transport lanes.

Dubai: A new three-kilometre-long dedicated lane for buses and taxis will open on Al Mina Street soon, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official told Gulf News.
The new lane is part of Phase Three of RTA’s dedicated lanes project that was launched in 2010.
Work is currently under way on Al Mina street, between Port Rashid intersection and Al Ghubaiba intersection, a perennially busy area where an extra lane is expected to significantly improve the traffic situation.
“Our idea is to gradually cover all of Central Business District in Deira and Bur Dubai. We are now concentrating on the busiest locations where an extra bus and taxi lane can have a positive impact on traffic. Most of our proposed locations for the near future are high-demand areas,” said Mohammad Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at RTA’s Public Transport Agency (PTA).
