UAE banks targeted by cyber attackers

An astonishing 72 percent of the phishing attacks recorded in the UAE last year, were directed at banks, reports The National.

The figures come from aeCert, the agency with responsibility for overseeing cyber security.

Speaking at the International Security and National Resilience conference in Abu Dhabi, which ends today, officials said local banks were the primary target and were being attacked using a variety of different methods.

These include Trojan viruses which copy onto a hard drive and then either attack the computer or extract secret information.
