Internet banking

Online banking, or internet banking, allows customers to access their bank accounts and carry out numerous banking transactions via the internet. The first online services began in New York in 1981, when four of the city's major banks (Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical and Manufacturers Hanover) offered home banking services using a system called videotex. Increased online security for such services enabled the service to boom, and subsequently millions of people worldwide now bank from the comfort of their own home.
