3G

3G is the fourth generation of mobile phone technologies, taking over from 2.5G. In its most basic sense it is the availability of high speed broadband on mobile. The first 3G network was launched by Japanese company NTT DoCoMo in May 2001. In December 2007, 190 3G networks were operating in 40 countries, marking a huge development in mobile internet access and coincided with the advanced development of mobile phone handsets.
