The Z10, which was officially launched in Dubai on January 30, was supposed to go on sale today, but retailers say they have not received the devices. Dubai was one of only six cities globally to launch the new smartphone.
“We are waiting for the stocks and we will get an update only by today [Sunday] evening,” Anand Rao, head of marketing at Sharaf DG, told Gulf News.
Retailers are not sure of the reason behind the delay.
“We think BlackBerry is still in talks with the carriers and the TRA regarding BlackBerry Messenger Service,” said Nadeem Khanzadah, Head of Retail at Jumbo Electronics.
The 4.2-inch full-touch device’s BBM facility has both voice and video service and it is very likely to be blocked by the telco operators here, several retailers said
