*KNOWLEDGE CONSOLIDATION*
*If you were to take a call on the total volume of knowledge imparted to you, on an incremental manner and what you possess today, the enormity of the loss, can take you aback.* The loss of knowledge is a loss we are not even in a position to calculate. The result is the incapability to deliver in areas in which we are supposed to be knowledgeable or possess skills out of training or field experience.
*Consolidating knowledge is a skill we are not taught in our schools & colleges and much less in the professional settings we work in.* The crux of the matter is the examination system where rote & consequent delivery is the name of the game. The success or otherwise is completely dependent on it. *The proficiency in the knowledge acquired is not tested nor its usage.* Consolidation can broadly happen only through these means.
*How much of the knowledge beyond the books; gained from peers, tours, internet & other sources gets consolidated is a big question mark.* Lateral knowledge available on the net ought to be consolidated to make our knowledge worthwhile in today's age. *It entails a thought process with an enabling capability to locate the right resources, use it gainfully* & make it a value add on the available knowledge. Loads of highest quality content lies unused from Wikipedia, to Khan Academy to YouTube et al.
*In the professional arena, experience measured in years, does not in any way reflect the actual knowledge consolidation by the professional.* He might be worse off from the place he started. With vast quantum of relevant knowledge being added on a regular basis in the digital age in every field, it's the bounden duty of every professional to gain out of it and finally possess a consolidated base of knowledge up to date & worthwhile. This is the litmus test of the day. *Every individual would thus have a unique knowledge repository of which he would be proud of.*
*WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE CONSOLIDATION, A LIFETIME'S EFFORT GET'S WASTED.*
