Over 10 divorce cases a day in UAE

More than 10 cases of divorce happen daily in the country. Infidelity is believed to be the main cause of it, according to official figures.

Emirates 24|7 gathered figures form all the courts in the country, and found that the rate of divorce cases last year has increased from previous years, and averaged more than 10 cases daily.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Hamadi, Head of Family Marital Section at Dubai Courts, said that divorce rates in the county has increased recently, and this is normal due to the high population growth rate and increase in marriages.

Dr Al Hamadi added: “Divorce rates is increasing not only in the emirate, but all over the country. And this is natural due to the increase in population and the increase in new marriages every day.”

He pointed out infidelity is one of the major causes of divorces in the emirate, and this happens mainly due to the lack of fear of God between the husband and wife.

“We found that the more the husband and wife were strong believers in God, the less infidelity would be between them. We came across many cases where the husband cheats his wife or the opposite.”
