People in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states will see the longest day in the year on Saturday as it will peak at nearly 13 hours and 48 minutes, according to an expert.
Mulham bin Hindi, a well-known Saudi astronomer, said Saturday would usher in the beginning of summer in the region and other countries north of the equatorial.
“Saturday is the longest day in the year in the Gulf and all other countries located north of the equatorial,” he said, quoted by Sabq newspaper.
He said the day would last about 13.48 hours in eastern Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries,13.40 hours in the Saudi capital Riyadh and around 13.27 hours in the western Saudi town of Makkah.
In the Scandinavian countries, the day will be as long as 19 hours and this means that Sunday night will be the shortest in the year
