For the first time you will be able to buy Google Glass from a third-party retailer. Google has announced that, starting June 23, anyone can buy a designer wear version of the Google Glass from American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.
“The collaboration that brings chic eyewear designs by iconic American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg to the Glass Explorer Program. These new designs build on the style choices we gave Explorers when we launched the Titanium Collection in January,” Google announced.
Google has been a partner with von Furstenberg since 2012 trying to bring together fashion and technology. Then followed the filming of the entire DVF Spring 2013 show at New York Fashion Week shot through Google Glass.
Extending the partnership, the online fashion retailer will soon be launching five new frames and eight new shades for Google.
“Starting June 23, you can purchase the collection exclusively on +NET-A-PORTER and google.com/glass….At that time, you’ll also be able to purchase the Titanium collection on +MR PORTER,” the Google announcement said.
According to reports the designer glasses will be priced between $1,600 and $1,750. Currently the explorer version which can only be purchased from Google but limited to select invitees is priced at $1,500.
