International basketball in its true flavour comes to Dubai as national and club outfits confirm participation. — Supplied photoThe championship is sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Basketball Association, organisers B&B told Khaleej Times.
The lineup is pretty impressive especially when the giants of the club fraternity like Air 21 of the Philippines, Dongguan Leopards (China), Wollongong Hawks (Australia), Kelantan Warriors (Malaysia), Khon Kaen (Thailand), popular visitors here Al Hikma (Lebanon), The Basketball Academy (Serbia), Cheba Jets (Japan), and LG (South Korea), are due here for the eight-day extravaganza.
The two local sides in the fray will be Dubai’s Al Nasr and Al Wasl while the two national teams who have confirmed their participation are Iraq and India.
The clubs sides of international reputation have a minimum of two imports mostly when playing in their home grown leagues and this will see the highly skilled stars of at least US collegiate and national tier 2/3 quality taking part in the Dubai event. The US and Europe have a lot of such exports taking part in the leagues world over.
