Dubai has added yet another accomplishment to its already long list of accomplishments by acquiring the silver medal for Best Sports City in the world 2013 at an international ceremony that took place in London, Britain, in the presence of a plethora of sports officials from different nations around the world.
Dubai's Sports City was named the second best from among 10 different cities that made it to the final round. London's Sports City was named the best in the world, while the bronze title went to Oakland, California. The fact that the Dubai Sports City was recognised in this light is a testament to Dubai's spot with regard to international sporting ordinances, especially if you consider the fact that Dubai overtook all but one out of 10 cities including: Istanbul, Johannesburg and Sydney among others.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council's Executive Office, attributed this accomplishment to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Dr Ahmad Al Sharif, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, received the certificate for Dubai Sports City's afore-mentioned accomplishment in the presence of many international sports officials and high-ranking members of various sports unions, organisations and establishments. Dubai claimed the title in this competition through a complete and comprehensive file that was prepared and presented.
