Samsung Galaxy all set to dominate digital camera market

After dominating the smart TV and the smartphone market, Samsung now is all set to dominate the digital camera sector.

In what could probably bring an end to point and shoot digital cameras, throw a challenge to DSLR cameras, Samsung has just announced the launch of the Galaxy SIV Zoom a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with 10x optical zoom.

The Android Jelly Bean 4.2 powered Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom, combines the features of the GALAXY S4 smartphone with advanced photographic capabilities.

It introduces a new feature called the Zoom Ring, which allows a user to capture an image even while during a call. “When you’re in the middle of a phone call and you see something you absolutely have to share, a quick twist of the Zoom Ring will activate the In-Call Photo Share feature, letting you capture and send an image directly via MMS to whoever you are talking to simply,” a Samsung announcement on the product said.

The Zoom Ring can be used to activate the Quick Launch and Shortcut features, giving you instant access to multiple camera modes including Auto, Gallery and Smart Mode with a simple twist.

The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) helps keep the camera still enhancing the stability features of the images and videos.

A feature called Photo Suggest connects a user to libraries of images taken by fellow photographers. Photo Suggest will even direct you to the ideal nearby location which will give you the vantage point you need for that perfect photo.

Multiple other features like the Drama Shot will enable the user to merge continuous shots of moving objects into a single composed image. The Action Freeze for instance will capture high-speed action. And for those who cannot figure out which Smart Mode to select, it suggests which one to choose . The feature can assess the scene and provide a short list of the best options for consideration based on surrounding factors such as light levels, focal length, or face detection.

Meanwhile, a Vietnamese website has leaked what it says are original images of the Samsung NX,  that is expected to be launched on June 20. The Galaxy NX is expected to possess a APS-C 20.3 Megapixel sensor, 1080p HD recording, 4.8” HD display, Samsung’s Exynos 4 Quad-Core processor, 2GB of RAM and 8/16 GB of internal storage. The camera will also come with standard 18-55mm, 55-200 and another 85mm interchangeable lenses.

Tech blog SamMobile had earlier quoted Samsung Mobile vice president JK Shin as confirming that the mirrorless Galaxy NX camera will be released on June 20 at an event in London
