According to a report in Al Ittihad, Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) is
set to launch the mobile service by the fourth quarter of this year.
Dr. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Director-General, Eida, said the move is in line
with the smart government initiative, wherein a range of innovative electronic
services would be unveiled by the year-end. The service would be free of cost,
he added.
Similarly, Eida is working on implementing Braille applications for the
visually challenged.
Dr Al Khouri urged residents to use electronic forms by logging into the
authority’s website as it saves time and the process is quicker, as well.
Forms for all sorts of needs such as renewal of expired cards, issuance of
first-time cards, substituition of lost or damaged cards are all available on
the website.
He also said that the authority has successfully completed the process of
population registration of citizens.
