Your job search just got easier: LinkedIn revamps Jobs tool

LinkedIn has some good news for jobseekers here in the UAE and across the world.

The social networking site is rolling out a revamped jobs tool – LinkedIn Jobs – that it claims will make your job search effective, smarter and easier.

In a blog post, the popular social media site recently announced the revamp and maintained that the rollout will be complete across the world in the coming few weeks.

Helping you in your quest for your dream job, the social media biggie claims that new LinkedIn Jobs experience has been redesigned for jobseekers to connect them with “right” career opportunities and tools to help them take advantage of such opportunities.

Beyond the new look and feel, LinkedIn claims to have made significant improvements to enable better management of job searches.

LinkedIn says it will begin with showcasing open positions at companies where you have a first-degree connection — an “in” who can open doors for you at an organisation that’s hiring.

That’s cool not just because it’ll throw open a window to jobs relevant for you, but also give you a foot in the door in terms of a known contact that, at least in theory, can put you in touch with the right people within that organisation, as well as put in a good word for you.

Besides, deeper job searches using Advanced Search options to target open positions by country and zip code, industry and function will be available.

“It will be a quicker way to see the latest jobs by surfacing new results from your saved searches and easier access to ‘Jobs you may be interested in,’ to help you effortlessly find opportunities based on information in your LinkedIn Profile,” the blog says.

The new page will have a more holistic view of a jobseeker’s favourite job postings – you’ll have to simply click the ‘Save Job’ link on jobs you are particularly excited about and keep track of them on your LinkedIn Jobs page.

Additionally, for LinkedIn Job Seeker Premium subscribers, LinkedIn has added a new Advanced Search feature to find jobs that meet your salary requirements and has embedded tips to help you make the most of LinkedIn for your job search.
