Ajman will build an international airport in the Al Manama area of the
emirate, with the blueprint being finalised this week, a senior government
official has confirmed to Emirates 24|7.
A high-level meeting will be held this week where top officials are expected
to finalise the blueprint, the official said on condition of anonymity.
The airport is expected to be built at the cost of Dh1.3 billion by a
consortium of Spanish companies.
In 2008, it was announced that the Ajman airport will built on a 60 million
square feet of land and will be able to accommodate various types of aircrafts,
serving at least one million passengers per year and handling a minimum of
400,000 tonnes of cargo.
The passengers and the cargo would have the latest technologies of modern
European airports.
The airport will provide an impetus to the tourism industry, economy of the
emirate and will create over 28,000 new jobs.
