Just a day after Apple announced its new iPhone5, grey market in the UAE has started accepting pre-orders for the phone. A top-end 64GB model is being sold for as high as Dh6,000, more than twice the original value.
‘Emirates24|7’ spoke to many sources within the grey market, who confirmed that the new phone will be made available in the UAE within 48 hours after it is launched in the United States, Europe and South East Asia.
“We have already started taking preorders for the new phone. We will be pricing the 16GB model at $700. It will be made available within two or three days and will be factory unlocked,” says Ziad Usman a grey market operator who posted his advertisement in Dubizzle.
