UAE driver to sue Land Cruiser agents over system breakdown

Sahara Desert SafariAn Emirati Land Cruiser driver is reportedly going to sue the vehicle’s agents after his car suffered a total system failure while driving at 120 kph, UAE daily newspaper Emarat Alyoum reported on Thursday.

The driver, 25, was on his way to Ras Al Khaimah on August 11 when his car’s brakes and accelerator systems broke down, prompting a police alert to help slow down his car.

“I tried to use all the electronic systems in the car to stop it but all of them did not work. I will sue Al Futaim agents for this failure which put my life in danger so this will not happen again with other drivers,” driver Abdullah Al Mulla was quoted as saying by Emarat Alyoum.

UAE authorities have allegedly requested a report on the incident from the Interior Ministry, hinting that the Land Cruiser model could be withdrawn from Emirati markets in case a deficiency is proven.

“We want to know the real reason for this serious failure…in case it is proved there are factory defects in this model, the agent will be asked to withdraw all those cars from the market for repair and maintenance,” Hashim Al Nuaimi, consumer protection director at the Ministry of Economy, was quoted as saying by Emarat Alyoum.
