There has been an overwhelming response to the Emerging Kerala Meet from the
industrial world. Sources indicated that investors are ready to invest in 45
important projects which can be started after getting clearance from the
Government.
Even before the start of the meet, 35 projects were received which could be
implemented in the state. IT, Health, Higher Education, Tourism, Engineering are
the fields in which new projects are proposed.
CM said that the Government is satisfied with the progress of the Emerging
Kerala Meet. Cm assured all help including tax waiver for the 20,000 core
project of Bharath Petroleum Corporation. Development of Cochin Refinery and
petrochemical unit is their projects. CM also proposed to BPCL Chairman to
supply cooking gas to fair price hotels at domestic rate.
Tourism department has informed that Sea Plane Service would be started next
year itself. CM said that tax waiver would be given for the fuel used in these
planes. The services would also be exempted from operating charges as well. 58
companies were interested in this project.
Representatives from England and Malaysia discussed with CM and Minister
Ibrahim Kunju regarding the possibility of investment in developing the roads in
the state.
KEF would invest 350 crore for starting pre facilitation unit of the company.
50 acres at Kakanad would be given to start this project.
IT park at Kozhikode (1000 crore), Solar unit at Palakkad (500 crore), Five
Star Hotal at Thiruvananthapuram (150 croe) are some of the new projects.
