Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts opened the show, which is expected to account for two months in sales for several retail giants that are offering killer deals across various categories, including Tablets, cameras, televisions and more.
However, laptops are still emerging as the top buy this season, with many looking to cinch the deal with the best offer on display.
Santosh Nair, who is visiting Gitex Shopper for the second time, said: “I am looking to pick up a laptop to use at home. There is no specific brand I have in mind, but rather, the deal and the bundle offer will probably sway my decision.”
Mishaal Khan, who awaits the shopper deals every year to make purchases, said: “The deals are going to be interesting this year, what with the Tablets category competing with the laptops and the newly introduced ultrabooks.
“However, I am still swaying towards the laptop, which is still the more conventional buy. HP and Toshiba are the two brands that I am looking at, but of course, the offers on other brands could entice me to look at other brands such as Lenovo and Dell.”
