Eid Al Fitr holidays for public and private sectors announced in UAE

Eid Al Fitr holidays will begin on August 17 for public sector employees in the UAE, and will last until 3 Shawal (the month that follows Ramadan), state news agency WAM reported on Sunday.
The announcement means that the Eid break for UAE public sector employees will likely last from August 17-21 if Eid falls on Sunday, August 19.
However, if Eid falls on Saturday, August 18, the holidays will be from August 17-20.
According to a circular issued by Humaid Mohammad Al Qatami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, work is set to resume from the Shawal 4.
For private sector employees, the first and second days of Eid will be holidays for all firms, WAM reported, citing a circular from Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour.
Eid Al Fitr is the Muslim holiday that marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Islam follows a lunar calendar which means that months can last either 29 or 30 days.
