Tips for a Better Summer Jog

Tips for a Better Summer Jog

Nothing feels better than a morning jog by the beach until the extremely hot weather ruins it for you. Love to run in the morning, but hate the consequences? Follow these tips:
1.Avoid sunburn: running and sweating in the hot summer sun can only mean one thing; sunburn. Even when it’s early in the morning, make sure you protect your skin by applying sun block generously before you go out. A waterproof sunscreen of at least SPF 30 applied on all exposed areas, will protect against UVA/ UVB harmful rays.
2.Don't dry out: Dehydration and dizziness are common in the summer season, especially if exercise is involved. Losing weight by sweating has been proven to be dangerous and decreases performance. Two liters of water on average should be consumed daily and increased during exercise.

3.Grazing
: skin irritation and darkening occurs when clothes/skin rub against each other in the presence of sweat. Grazing or chafing occurs under arms, between thighs, under breasts, and sometimes on the sides of the chest. To avoid chafing and skin irritation, make sure you wear well-fitted clothes. Nothing too loose, preferably breathable sportswear will prevent that from happening. Protect already affected skin by applying Vaseline.
4.Early run: running before 12 pm is always a good idea. The streets are usually empty, the weather is tolerable, and the sun isn’t too bright.
5.Happy feet: DO NOT take off your socks! No matter how hot it is outside, jogging/ running without socks can cause blisters on your feet.
