Emirates Identity Authority has urged residents to collect ID cards within 90
days of them receiving text message.
Eida has also requested applicants to contact the authority if they fail to
receive SMS informing them of collection details within 30 days of their
applying for ID cards, reported Al Khaleej.
Applicants will not receive text messages if their phone numbers are
incorrectly registered in the system, Eida explained, and added that applicants
are required to collect cards within 90 days of them receiving the SMS. After
which the cards will be destroyed.
Once the card is destroyed, residents will have to re-apply for a new card
which will entail new fee. However, their data would be saved.
Residents who have lost ID cards are required to submit a certificate of
identification stamped by a registration centre, fill in the application form
for lost cards - which can be got either from typing centres or Eida website -
and pay a Dh300 fee.
Similarly, Eida confirmed that the authority informed residents 30 days prior
to the expiry of ID cards.
Residents can contact 600530003 to clarify details on ID card application
procedures.
