Candlelight surgery turns into tragedy in India

INDIA: A 20-year-old pregnant woman who delivered a baby by caesarian section in Thane near Mumbai, died after the doctors pulled out a section of her uterus by mistake.
The operation took place by candlelight as the hospital was reeling under power cut, reports Indian news television channel NDTV.
To make matters worse, the hospital authorities told the channel that they could not run the power generator as someone had stolen the fuel that was kept in storage to run it.
The doctors told the family before wheeling her into the operation room that the woman was carrying twins. After the woman delivered the baby, the doctors pulled out a part of her uterus and the new mother bled to death.
The doctor who performed the surgery fled from the hospital, the shocked family members revealed.
