Emirates Identity Authority must be notified of status changes

Penalties will be imposed soon by the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) on people who fail to register changes in marital and family status, an official told Gulf News.
Dr Ali Al Khoury, director general of Eida, said ongoing efforts to complete registration of residents across the UAE have made significant progress. However, he said there is work still to be done before the penalties can be imposed for failure to report changes in family status.
"People who do not inform the authorities of changes in their marital status, births or deaths of family members, residency, and change of address, will face payment of fines as per the law," Dr Al Khoury said.
A system under which fines will be imposed has not been activated yet but will be ready in a couple of months, he added.

Self-service machines
Self-service machines will be subsequently made available in different emirates to allow people to make minor modifications, which can also be completed online. Significant efforts are being exerted to register the majority of residents this year.
