GEMS Education, which operates a number of schools such as Our Own English,
GEMS Winchester and GEMS Westminster in the UAE, is hiring a large number of
teachers for its Dubai and Northern Emirates institutions.
Our Own English High School in Sharjah is recruiting TGT & PGT English
teachers, TGT & PGT Mathematics Teachers, PGT Accountancy Teachers and TGT
Social Studies Teachers, said an advertisement in the local newspaper.
The school has demanded a qualification of B.Ed. or equivalent for the
teachers interested in the vacant positions in the boys’ school. The positions
will be filled next month, the group said.
A recent study revealed that an increasing number of students prefer private
schools over public schools in the UAE. Dr Abdullah Al Karam, Director General
of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), said that student
enrolment in private schools have more than doubled over the last decade.
Hailing the private education sector role, Al Karam said private schools were
more efficient and provide good customer service.
Open Day on Saturday
According to another advertisement, GEMS is also hiring teachers for four
brands – The Westminster School, GEMS Westminster School, The Winchester School
and GEMS Winchester School.
It is also holding an “Open Day” tomorrow (Saturday, March 31) between 9am
and 3pm at Gems Winchester School near Oud Metha Road, Dubai, for a number of
vacant positions at four schools.
The group has advertised for Primary School Teachers, Trained Graduate
Teachers and Post Graduate Teachers. The specialist teachers are required in the
field of English, Music, Physical Education, Art & Craft, French, Computer
Science, Business Studies, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
All the interested going for interview need to take along CV, copies of
attested certificates, testimonials, passport size photos, valid passport and
visa copy.
International consulting firm Booz & Co. said recently that total market
value of private education in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is forecast to grow to between
$2.84 billion and $3.87 billion by 2020. Current market value of private
education is estimated at $1.4 billion.
