A Saudi man whose bank cash card was stolen by unknown thieves in a public
place himself gave them the password without knowing he was a victim of a dual
theft operation.
The Saudi was shopping in a vegetable market when two unknown men pretending
to be shoppers started talking to him.
When he slipped his hand into his pocket to pay for the vegetable, his purse
was gone and he quickly realized he has been stolen.
The shocked man began to look in all directions in the hope he would see
those two when another man came to him.
“He told me not to worry as he knew those two men….but he asked me to give
him the pin number for my ATM card so he can quickly phone the bank and disable
the card,” the Saudi said.
“Amidst the confusion, I gave him the password at once…I later realized that
this man was just one of the thieves.”
In its report from the central town of Majmaa, Alriyadh newspaper said the
man reported to the police that the thieves withdrew SR5,000 from his bank
account before emptying the remaining SR20,000 by transferring the funds to
another account.
