UAE temperatures to dip to 10°C today

Temperatures in the UAE are set to fall to 10°C today (Monday), the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has warned, adding that the seas will remain particularly rough and winds could reach a speed of up to 65km per hour at times.

According to the definitions in the global weather system, winds of more than 63km/hr classify as a tropical storm. The definition says: “A tropical storm is an organised system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 17 metres per second (33 kn) (39 miles per hour (63 km/h)) and 32 metres per second (62 kn) (73 miles per hour (117 km/h)). At this point, the distinctive cyclonic shape starts to develop, although an eye is not usually present.”

The UAE weatherman has warned that owing to such high wind speeds, sea waves could reach up to 10ft, and beachgoers and fishermen have been asked to be on an alert for bad weather conditions. The UAE’s weather forecast for the day reads: “Partly cloudy weather in general. Fresh to strong winds in general over most of areas, especially over the sea.”

“Temperatures are likely to decrease significantly,” says the NCMS forecast, adding that “sea will be rough to vry rough in general.”

Temperatures are set to dip to 10°C in the country’s mountainous regions and 14°C in internal areas while coastal areas could see temperatures fall to 15°C.
