Rent, read, return. The catchy slogan reads like that of 90's racy two wheeler ad: Fill it, shut it, forget it. As the books get expensive and the leisure time on our hands dwindle, the popular library chain Just Books is striving to make your engagement with books simple again.
Just Books CLC which claims to be the largest community library chain in India launched their Kochi branch Wednesday.
Speaking at the sidelines of the library launch, D. Ravi Kumar, senior manager - franchise development, said "At Just Books, lending is a very simple process. You just have to give a ring, send an email or place an order online, and the required books would be delivered at your doorstep in no time. If not currently available, we will promptly let you know once the book is back on the racks. What more, you do not have to pay fine on late return as well."
"We have an exquisite collection of Indian English books. Malayalam literature is also made available. We have a good collection of children's magazines as well,"
Though Just Books generally offer free delivery service to customers under the 'Avid Reader Plan' alone, all members within three km radius of its Kochi outlet will be offered home delivery service.
Alex Joseph, who runs the Kochi franchise, says "We keep on buying new books every week to keep ourselves updated. You can see that Steve Job's biography and Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020 are available here. In fact we have more than ten copies of Chetan Bhagat's book as it is found to be in high demand."
Based on the number of books they like to hire, customers can choose from a whole range of monthly membership plans that starts at Rs150. Just Books has immediate plans to open more outlets in Kochi.
Fully backed by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, it would then be even possible for registered members to hire and return books at any of these outlets.
