Mullaperiyar: Assembly to hold special one-day sitting

The state assembly is slated to have a one-day sitting Friday exclusively to consider the dam issue where an unanimous resolution expressing state's concern is expected to be adopted.

Though the entire political spectrum in the state is united over the core demand of new dam, the assembly sitting is certain to witness some heated exchanges between the ruling UDF and opposition LDF.

The LDF has taken exception to the government's decision to put the lid on the row over the Advocate General's submissions in a related case in the High Court. The LDF would also be attacking the Centre for its failure to act resolutely in the long-drawn tangle between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, sources said.

UDF sources, however, said it was normal for the rival sides to score points during debates but at the end of the day the House would adopt a unanimous resolution.
