Seventy-year-old retired career diplomat Mohammad Hamid Ansari was elected India’s new vice president on Friday.
He secured 455 votes while BJP MP, former Rajya Sabha deputy chairwoman Najma Heptulla received 222 and Rashid Masood managed to garner only 75, while 10 votes were declared invalid.
