Abu Dhabi 'elevator rapist' sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

A man who is believed to have attacked a number of women in lifts has been jailed for 10 years after he was found guilty of one of the assaults.

The man faces four similar charges of sexually assaults, all alleged victims are Asian and aged between 26 to 30.
Police only announced last week that they had captured the rapist, who was known to police as “the woman hunter” and they released this cartoon of him.
He is said to have used a knife to force women out of lifts them attacking them in stairways.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court convicted the Arab defendant on one of the five charges.
No date has been set for a hearing into the other four charges.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department said it hoped the sentence would be a deterrent for a crime that is “abhorrent and rare in the UAE”.
