Aldar Properties, the Abu Dhabi-based real estate major, has written off rents
for 2012 at its Motorworld development in Abu Dhabi following complaints over a
lack of infrastructure.
Tenants based in Aldar Properties’ Motorworld are
exempt from paying rents for 2012, the company announced.
Talal Al
Dhiyebi, Director of Planning & Infrastructure at Aldar Properties said in
an interview with Abu Dhabi TV Channel said the decision was made as a token of
support to around 100 tenants of car showrooms in Motorworld.
Tenants
earlier voiced concerns that Motorworld – a one-stop destination for sellers and
buyers of pre-owned cars – lacks many facilities such as shops, banks, petrol
stations and supermarkets.
Al Dhiyabi said Aldar Properties had already
completed a service centre in Motorworld, comprising banks, insurance companies,
prayer rooms and other facilities. He added that the centre will open in March
2013.
